Provides an overview of the vast artifactual record of this segment of the world, aims to engender a series of fundamental art-historical skills such as description, compare-and-contrast, critical viewing, slow looking, and close reading. Calls into question the Euro-centrism of “art” and its histories. No prior coursework or experience is necessary.
