Description
Introduces students to improvisational dance-making methodologies through the study of leading improvisational artists in the field and diverse cultural music and dance traditions. Students explore improvisation as an embodied practice of resistance and liberation while developing skills in deep listening, adaptability, and collaborative creativity. Through movement practice, discussion, and research, the course examines the cultural and political significance of improvisation across contexts. The semester culminates in the creation and performance of original improvisational work.
