Description

Introduction to the basic concepts of toxicology as they apply to the effects of environmental agents (i.e. chemicals, metals, and biological molecules) on public health. Discussion of the distribution, metabolism, and elimination of toxic agents, as well as the fundamental laws that govern the interaction of foreign chemicals with biological systems. Examines the effects of classic toxicants on the major organ systems. Focus on the application of concepts to the understanding and prevention of morbidities and mortalities that result from
environmental exposures to toxic substances. Uses case studies and published scientific literature.
